At AV Consultants, led by Deepak Saxena, we recently completed a premium turnkey home cinema project for Mr. Raja at Mohali, located in the prestigious Emaar Society, Sector 105. This dedicated room measured 15ft x 15 ft with a 10 ft ceiling height, presenting one of the most difficult acoustic challenges in room design—a perfectly symmetrical square room.

For most home theater installers, a square room can quickly become an acoustic disaster. When the width and length of a room are identical, sound waves reflect at the same frequencies, causing heavy standing waves, bass peaks, and nulls. In simple terms, this means certain seats may experience overpowering bass while others may completely lose low-frequency impact. Without proper acoustic engineering, even expensive equipment will fail to perform.

This is where AV Consultants took a performance-first approach. Before any equipment was installed, the room underwent full acoustic treatment and structural isolation. Every wall was treated using high-density 14mm thick acoustic absorption panels combined to break harsh reflections and improve clarity. These panels were transparent fabric, ensuring both performance and aesthetics remained uncompromised.

The ceiling was also fully acoustically treated and isolated. Since Dolby Atmos relies heavily on vertical sound movement, controlling ceiling reflections is critical. By creating a treated ceiling environment around the overhead channels, we ensured that height effects remain sharp, clean, and highly directional. This significantly improves the realism of overhead effects like rainfall, helicopters, and environmental ambience.

Once that carpet is laid down, it is going to tie the entire acoustic ecosystem together.It stops the sonic wavefronts from the Jamo towers and center channel from bouncing off the hard floor directly into the listener’s ears. This instantly sharpens dialogue intelligibility and snaps the front imaging into focus.

For the audio system, we designed a 5.2.2 Dolby Atmos layout, while also keeping full infrastructure provisions for a future 7.2.2 Dolby Atmos expansion. This means the room is already pre-wired for two additional surround channels, eliminating the need for future civil work or rewiring. This future-ready design protects the client’s investment and allows easy upgrades as needs evolve.

The front soundstage is powered by Jamo S606 floorstanding tower speakers, paired with the Jamo S7-43 center speaker. The front LCR stage is the most important part of any cinema, as nearly 70% of movie audio—including dialogue, music, and front effects—comes from these channels. The Jamo S606 towers deliver powerful mid-bass punch, wide stereo imaging, and excellent dynamics, while the center speaker ensures crystal-clear dialogue reproduction even during heavy action scenes.

For surround duties, we used Jamo S602 surround speakers, positioned carefully to create seamless side surround immersion. These speakers deliver environmental realism, directional effects, and movement transitions that make the listener feel inside the scene rather than simply watching it.

For overhead Atmos effects, we installed Polk Audio RC80i in-ceiling speakers. These channels are essential for adding height information to the soundstage, creating a three-dimensional audio bubble around the audience. Proper positioning and ceiling treatment ensured that the Atmos layer remained highly accurate.

Bass performance in this room is handled by dual Polk Audio ES08 active subwoofers. In a square room, running a single subwoofer is often a compromise. By deploying two subwoofers in a mirrored symmetrical placement, we achieved smoother bass distribution, reduced dead spots, and improved seat-to-seat consistency. This setup delivers deep, controlled, and impactful bass without boominess.

Powering the entire system is the Marantz Cinema 50, one of the finest Japanese-built AV receivers in its class. This 9-channel amplifier offers Dolby Atmos, DTS, Audyssey room correction, and premium HDAM circuitry. It drives the current 5.2.2 setup effortlessly while remaining fully capable of supporting the planned 7.2.2 expansion in the future. After installation, the system was professionally calibrated to optimize crossover points, speaker delays, distances, and EQ alignment for perfect tonal cohesion.

On the visual side, we installed the BenQ W2720i 4K LED AI Cinema Projector, mounted using a heavy-duty Vueguard ceiling mount. The W2720i offers true 4K resolution, HDR optimization, AI cinema processing, and a long-life LED light engine. Unlike traditional lamp projectors, the LED system offers stable brightness, better longevity, and lower maintenance. This ensures consistent picture quality over years of use.

The projector is paired with a Elite Screens 120-inch fixed frame HD matte white screen. A fixed frame screen is always the best choice for serious cinema rooms because it maintains perfect tension and a completely flat surface. This results in better edge sharpness, improved light uniformity, and a more professional cinematic image.

For signal integrity, we used a premium AudioQuest 15-meter 8K 48Gbps HDMI cable, ensuring full-bandwidth transmission from the Apple TV 4K 128GB to the projector. All speaker connections were wired using DAC 1.5mm pure LC-OFC speaker cable for maximum conductivity and minimal signal loss, while Sommer subwoofer cables were used for clean low-frequency transmission.

Power protection is another area where most installations fail. To protect the projector and AV equipment from voltage fluctuations, we installed an APC BX1100VA along with a Taga Harmony line conditioner. This ensures stable voltage, cleaner power delivery, reduced electrical noise, and safe projector shutdown during sudden outages.

As part of the complete turnkey package, AV Consultants also supplied premium cinema recliners. Seating placement was carefully calculated based on acoustic sweet spot positioning and ideal screen viewing distance. This ensures perfect ear-level alignment, immersive field of view, and long-hour comfort without fatigue.
